Kinshasa, May 22nd, 2021 (CPA).– The Director General of the National Forest Fund, Honoré Mulumba Kalala launched Friday in Kinshasa, the second phase of the project « School gardens for a billion trees by 2023 », during ‘a ceremony organized in the municipality of Limete. This project consists of planting non-fruit trees all along Boulevard Lumumba in order to fight against global warming in the world, including in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The mayor of the municipality of Limete, Me Douglas Nkulu, said he was satisfied to see the progress of this project which will allow the population of the said municipality to be spared from various evils caused by global warming. He said that the municipality of Limete remains open to support any project that facilitates the emergence of its municipality and that supports the vision of the Head of State based on the integral development of the DRC. The coordinator of the non-profit organization « Group of environmental consultants (GEC) », Alain Biey said he was satisfied to see the support of urban authorities as well as the Director General of the National Forest Fund, Honoré Kalala. He indicated that this initiative must extend across the city of Kinshasa to spare the population from global warming. According to agricultural engineer Alpha Weya, also project supervisor, this second phase of the project begins at 12th Street in the residential district of Limete and ends at 16th Street. « We have planted a total of a million non-fruit trees to appease the environment in the face of the danger plaguing mankind from global warming. And for today, the goal is to plant more or less 600 feet of plants on the projected path, « he said. ACP/
