Kinshasa, July 10th, 2021 (CPA).- The Jury of Appeal of the African Football Confederation (CAF) on Thursday rejected the appeal of the Congolese Association of Football Association (FECOFA) concerning the player Guelor Kanga for whom the he apex body of Congolese football continues to dispute its eligibility to play for the Panthers of Gabon as supported by FEGAFOOT (Gabonese Football Federation).
The Jury of Appeal says in its wording that it has studied not only the file on the basis of the documents made available to it, but also the decision rendered by the CAF Disciplinary Jury. According to its study, FECOFA did not produce any new elements or additional evidence. Considering that the appeal did not introduce new evidence and that the player Kanga Kiaku Guelor is correctly registered on the CMS in accordance with Articles 38-41 of the CAN rules; considering also the statutes and regulations of CAF as well as the Disciplinary Code of CAF, the Jury of Appeal confirmed the decision of the Disciplinary Jury of May 26, 2021, despite the admissibility of FECOFA’s appeal in the form.
The Jury of Appeal clarified that, in accordance with article 48 paragraph 3 of the statutes of CAF, this decision may be appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland. The appeal must be lodged within ten days of notification of the decision and must include all the elements appearing in point 2 of the directives issued by the CAS. ACP/
