Kinshasa, April 18th, 2023 (CPA).- The provincial city of Kinshasa will host from June 17th to 24th, 2023, the second edition of the African Festival of Martial Arts (FADAM), CPA learnt on Monday from the Ministry in charge of Sports and Leisure.
The president-founder of this martial arts open, Dominique Saatenang, announced it on Saturday, after an audience granted to him by the Minister in charge of Sports and Leisure, François Claude Kabulo Mwana Kabulo. « The preparations for the second edition of this sporting and cultural event are progressing well, this festival expects to receive nearly 5000 athletes and 1000 artists from 60 different countries, » he said at the end of this working session with the Congolese sports boss, stressing that the organization of this event was on the menu of their exchanges between the Franco-Chinese leader of Cameroonian origin, initiator of FADAM.
This second edition which will take place in two months in the Congolese capital, will be carried out with the blessing of the Head of State Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo through the Ministry in charge of Sports and Leisure and that of Culture.
He revealed in this regard that great names of celebrities from the martial arts space are heard in the Congolese capital, such as Jackie Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Gerard Depardieu and many others.
« All these great personalities have agreed to give their unfailing support to FADAM as shown by their messages of encouragement to this organisation, » added Dominique Saatenang, nicknamed the African Bruce Lee.
Speaking about their structure FADAM, Mr. Dominique Saatenang said that their structure has set itself the goal of involving 30 sports disciplines at this meeting.
FADAM is an international organisation, which works with the government of a country in the sense of accompanying them for the development of sports and sponsors.
Minister Kabulo pledges his support for the organisation of the martial arts festival in Kinshasa
The Minister in charge of Sports and Leisure, Claude-François Kabulo Mwana Kabulo, promised on Monday the support of the Congolese government in the organisation of the Martial Arts Festival (FADAM), from June 17th to 24th, 2023, in Kinshasa, during an audience he granted to the founding president of this festival, Mr Dominique Saatenang, in his office.
« The FADAM is an international organization that welcomes every two years, nearly 5,000 athletes from 30 different disciplines of martial arts and 1,000 artists from over 60 countries. This year, DRC will host the event. Minister Kabulo reassured us of the government’s support, especially on the logistical level, for the success of this event, » said Dominique Saatenang at the end of the audience, before testifying that he had obtained assurances of its involvement in the logistical aspect.
According to Me Dominique, FADAM is the materialization of his dream, that of allowing African youth to showcase their talents and compete with the best athletes in the world.
As a reminder, the first edition of FADAM took place from April 6th to 7th, 2018, in the cities of Yaounde and Douala, Cameroon. About 40 countries were represented in this first edition in disciplines such as Judo, Aikido, Kendo, Kung Fu, Capoeira, traditional wrestling and many others. CPA/
