Table tennis: creation of the « Tennis YMCA » club in Kinshasa / Kalamu

Kinshasa, June 19th, 2021 (CPA).- The Christian Association of Young People and Christian Women Association (YMCA-YWCA) created a table tennis club called « Tennis YMCA, last weekend in the occasion of its general assembly, held last weekend at its headquarters in Matonge, in the town of Kalamu.

The constituent assembly of the « Tennis YMCA » club formalized and formalized the creation of the said club with a view to devoting its activities to its local branches to ensure the supervision of young people in difficult circumstances. The ceremony was attended by delegates from the Provincial Ministry of Sports, the Federation and the Kinshasa Table Tennis League.

At the origin of the creation of this club within this international association, the general secretary, Batty Mundhu Fetty, indicated that it is a question of translating into facts the muscular Christianity highlighted by the founder of this non-profit association, Georges William. The latter, as part of its fight against anti-values, had deemed it appropriate to build infrastructures of various kinds likely to occupy, especially in the Congolese context, street children through sports disciplines to remove all of them. idea of ​​sowing insecurity and stealing in order to survive.

For his part, the national director of sports activities at YMCA-YWCA / DR Congo, Valentin Moduel, said that the club includes several cells: table tennis, teams for children and adolescents as well as the Nzango team.

Ms. Annie Elia, an executive at the Provincial Sports Ministry noted the creation and constitution of this club as it fulfilled all the criteria. For his part, Ruddy Daniel Nsompi of the Table Tennis League pledged his support, before announcing the opening in the coming days of a table tennis academy to train coaches and athletes in municipal entities.
