Kinshasa, February 15th, 2026 (CPA).- The military camp named Badiadingi in Ngaliema, a municipality in western Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is threatened by erosion heads caused by torrential rains that fell on the Congolese capital on Friday night and Saturday morning, CPA has noticed. ‘The rains from Thursday night to Friday and from Friday to Saturday have created terrible erosion heads. These erosion heads have blocked the entrances to our villas, preventing us from taking our vehicles out to go to our places of work,’ has declared Marie-Jeanne Matondo, wife of an officer living in the Badiadingi camp. According to her, some of the villas in this military officers’ camp have already been washed away by erosions following the progression of these erosion heads. « The camp had 400 villas. Today, there are 390, with 10 having been washed away by erosions. This is a major concern for us, » she has said, sounding alarm bells to the relevant authorities to protect their city and its homes. « We, the people, call on our municipal authorities to unblock and clean the drains and to strengthen drainage measures. We ask the military leaders and the government of the Republic to come to our aid, because there are families in the Badiadingi camp, » has launched Ms Matondo. She has asked the authorities to dispatch the military engineering corps, which has proven itself in several similar situations, to save this camp, which is one of the army’s flagship camps in the capital. Every year, the torrential rains cause significant material damage, loss of life and disruption to activities in certain neighbourhoods and municipalities of the capital and other cities across the country. These urban areas, particularly Camp Badiadingi, are affected due to their rugged topography and poor rainwater drainage capacity. ACP/
