Kinshasa, September 30th, 2026 (CPA): – The African football authorities from the 54 member countries of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the coaches of the continent’s national teams have been invited to attend the organization’s Strategic Conference, scheduled from October 7th, to 9th, in Sal, Cape Verde, according to the CAF website, consulted on Wednesday by CPA.
“This high-level meeting will be dedicated to reflection on the future of African football. Organized from October 7th to 9th, 2026, in Sal, in Cape Verde, the ‘CAF Strategy Conference’ will be one of the major events on CAF’s calendar this year and will mark an important milestone for the organization,” it is read. According to the source, the CAF President and the President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, will attend the conference.
“The conference will bring together, in particular, the CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe; the President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino; the presidents of the 54 CAF Member Associations; representatives of the zonal unions; and members of the CAF Executive Committee.” It is explained that the coaches of the men’s, women’s and youth national teams will also take part in these discussions, alongside international football experts, with a view to analyse, in particular, the lessons learnt from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as well as those drawn from previous competitions organized under the auspices of CAF.
The strategic conference of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) should thus enable the various stakeholders in African football to discuss the challenges relating to the development of the sport on the continent and to reflect on the future direction of the game. Inevitably, for DRC, the President of the Congolese Football Association (Fecofa), Veron Mosengo, and the national team manager of the Leopards, Sebastien Desabre, will be among the invited guests by virtue of their respective roles, although it is not yet known whether other coaches will represent the country at this important continental event, whose opening is expected in seven days.
