Kinshasa, June 24th, 2025 (CPA) – On Tuesday, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) invited the presidents of the national and provincial football leagues in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to a virtual meeting on Wednesday, to clear up certain misunderstandings about Congolese football, the CPA has learnt from an administrative source of this sporting body. ‘In my capacity as General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (Caf), I have the honor of inviting you to a virtual meeting at which the International Federation of Football Association (Fifa) will also be represented,’ it read. According to Caf’s invitation, dated Tuesday and signed by the general secretary of this sporting body, ‘As major players in Congolese football, it seems to us that you should be perfectly and correctly informed of the decisions taken by the controlling bodies of African and world football concerning the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)’, it is stipulated, adding: ‘It seems to us that many untruths have been told on behalf of Fifa, and that serious misunderstandings must be cleared up quickly as they are likely to undermine the efforts being made to get organized football back on track in the DRC’.We are sure to learn more about the ins and outs of this virtual meeting, with football in the DRC at the center of attention.It goes without saying that the Congolese Football Federation, as the technical body for national football in the DRC, is a tacit participant.
