Kinshasa, April 20th, 2026 (CPA). – The Sacred Union of the Nation (USN), the ruling political platform in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), has called on Monday its members and all those who are interested by the reform of the Constitution to submit their proposals by May the 20th at the latest, according to a press release consulted by CPA.
‘The Permanent Secretariat invites the political parties/groups, the associations, the personalities members of the USN, the religious denominations, the non-governmental human rights organisations, professional bodies, the trade unions, the academics, in general and in particular, the jurists and all other Congolese patriots interested in the country or in the diaspora, to submit their proposals to it by Wednesday May 20th, 2026 at the latest,” the statement has informed.
If the source is to be believed, the various proposals relating to this constitutional reform will be subject to in-depth examination by a technical committee before being forwarded to President Felix Tshisekedi, the USN’s highest political authority.
“A technical commission will then be set up to summarise and evaluate the various proposals in order to produce a report to be submitted to the President of the Republic, Felix Tshisekedi, who represents the entire nation and ensures, through his arbitration, the continuity of the State,” the same statement has specified.
This political grouping has said that it has taken into account, in this invitation, the numerous demonstrations of support for the constitutional reform initiative organised by the Congolese people in Kinshasa, in the provinces, and by the diaspora, following the memoranda addressed to the President of the Republic, as well as several initiatives calling for the reform of the Constitution of February 18th, 2006, which currently governs DRC.
