Kinshasa, September 27th, 2026 (CPA).- Digital technology at the service of Congolese tourism to showcase the potential of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to the world is the national theme chosen to mark World Tourism Day, the Minister in charge said Sunday in a message issued on the occasion.
“The DRC has not departed from this rule. It is celebrating this day under the theme: ‘Digital technology at the service of Congolese tourism: showcasing the DRC’s potential to the world,’” said Didier Mazenga, Minister of Tourism. “This day offers a great opportunity to celebrate our historical and tourist assets, our destination, but also to reflect on ways to create the necessary conditions for promoting the DRC as a destination locally, regionally and internationally,” he added. The Minister in charge of Tourism said that tourism is currently undergoing a real transformation. According to him, travelers are no longer choosing only a destination, however attractive it may be, but also an experience that is increasingly influenced by digital technology. Through this message, Mr. Mazenga commended the commitment of President Félix Tshisekedi to strengthening the promotion of Congolese soft power through tourism.
“This commitment is being translated into action by the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Judith Suminwa,” he added. “On the sidelines of this celebration, several cultural activities are being organized in each member country of UN Tourism to promote tourism,” the Minister said, adding that in 2026, World Tourism Day is being celebrated internationally under the theme: “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Rethink Tourism.”
