Kinshasa, November 18th, 2025 (CPA).- Disruptions in the drinking water supply have been observed in eight (8) municipalities of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, due to technical works deemed necessary to improve the distribution network for this vital commodity, according to a statement received on Tuesday by CPA. ‘Disruptions will be observed in the supply of drinking water in the following neighbourhoods and municipalities: Gombe, Lingwala, Kinshasa, Kasa-Vubu, Ngiri-Ngiri, Barumbu, Bandalungwa and Kintambo. This situation is linked to the rescheduling of technical works deemed essential for the improvement of the network,’ it is read. According to the document, the Ngaliema plant will be completely shut down during the operations, which will cause a significant drop in pressure and temporary interruptions in the affected areas.
The same text has indicated that technical teams will be mobilised throughout the night to ensure the completion of the works within the announced timeframe. According to the source, the drinking water distribution company (Regideso) has asked its customers affected by these disruptions to build up sufficient water reserves, while reassuring them that service will be gradually restored at the end of the interventions. The Kinshasa West regional office of this public company, he has continued, stated that these works are part of its maintenance programme aimed at sustainably improving the quality of supply, before apologising to users for the inconvenience caused and reiterating its commitment to strengthening the reliability of the network throughout the city of Kinshasa.
