Kinshasa, October 7th, 2026 (CPA).- The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) men’s Under-23 (U23) Leopards, who defeated Mauritania 2-0, have been congratulated by the Congolese Football Association Federation (Fecofa), according to a statement.
“The Executive Committee (Comex) of Fecofa extends its warmest congratulations to the U23 Leopards following their brilliant victory and qualification secured against Mauritania,” the statement said. According to the statement, a copy of which reached CPA on Wednesday, the victory was a true demonstration of strength by the Leopards.
“By prevailing with authority at the Kamalondo temple, our young ambassadors delivered a true demonstration of strength, reflecting the vitality and exceptional potential of the next generation of Congolese football,” it said, adding that Fecofa particularly wished to commend the discipline, tactical vision and leadership of head coach Guy Bukasa, whose responsible work at the helm of the technical staff had been a cornerstone of the team’s success.
For this reason, Fecofa’s Executive Committee reiterated its full support and renewed encouragement to the players ahead of the next decisive round, in which the DRC will face Nigeria, and called on the Congolese people as a whole to rally as one behind this promising generation for the remainder of the continental campaign.
