Kinshasa, June 24th, 2025 (CPA) – Fish was declared on Tuesday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as a strategic commodity for the revival of the national economy by the president of the Network for the integral development of the Congo (Redic – Awfishnet – RDC), during an interview. ‘We declare that fish is a strategic commodity for the revival of the national economy, and this is the theme chosen for our Fishing and Aquaculture Entrepreneurship Week, scheduled for June 25th to 30th, 2025. This is a unique opportunity for the Democratic Republic of Congo in the fields of fishing and aquaculture’, said Patricia Maisha Ishingwa, the initiator of the Fishing Entrepreneurship Week. ‘During these five days (5), after the official launch ceremony in Kongo Central, there will be an exhibition and sales of fish products, conferences, panels, expert workshops, the presentation of the national trophy (Mbisi ya Congo) and a special Lipanda evening to celebrate June 30th, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s independence day’, she added. Entrepreneurs, young processors, fish farmers, traders and cooperatives are expected to take part in this vital event, which will also be exceptionally well attended by senior national authorities, experts from the fisheries sector, investors, NGOs, institutions and development partners.
