Kinshasa, September 17th, 2026 (CPA). – The price of a tonne of aluminium, an export product of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), fell by 29.91 per cent, trading at USD 1,566.81 on international markets on 14 September, compared with USD 2,235.64 the previous week, according to price lists consulted by the CPA on Thursday.
“The price of a tonne of aluminium fell on the international market during the week of 14 to September 19th 2026; this product is trading at 1,566.81 US dollars, compared with 2,235.64 USD the previous week, representing a fall of 29.91 per cent per tonne,” according to the Foreign Trade price lists. The rise, fall and stability in the prices of marketable mining products, agricultural produce and minor forestry products, has specified the document, are driven by supply and demand on the international market as well as by the supply chain.
These fluctuations have a direct impact on the Congolese economy, which is heavily dependent on raw material exports, particularly in the mining sector. Aluminium is used primarily in the manufacture of a wide range of products across various industries, including the automotive, aerospace, electricity, energy and construction sectors.
This product is used to manufacture sheet metal, wire, tubes and other specialised components, utilising aluminium’s remarkable properties, such as its light weight, corrosion resistance and good electrical and thermal conductivity.
