Kinshasa, August 4th, 2025 (CPA).- Harmony and social peace were emphasised on Monday during the launch of joint discussions between the employer and the union representatives of the National Satellite Telecommunications Network (Renatelsat) at the headquarters of this public institution in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
« I have been at the helm of this company for less than two years, and it had been more than 20 years since any joint meetings or training sessions had been organised. Under the impetus of the Minister of Communication and Media, who has always advised us to seek harmony within the company, we have worked to maintain social peace, » said Jean-Pierre Boondo, managing director of Renatelsat. This joint meeting between the employer and the union representatives of this public satellite operator in the DRC will last until 9 August, with five days of discussions. ‘The employer is sparing no effort to ensure transparent and rational management in order to achieve its objectives.
The most eloquent example of this approach is the convening and holding of these meetings, desired by all parties, in order to lay the groundwork for Renatelsat to be a factor in socio-economic development for all staff and the representative,’ has added the managing director. Speaking on this occasion, Ali Mbilo, representative of the Minister of Communication and Media, stated that the achievement of harmony and cohesion between workers and the management committee within this public institution is strongly desired by his supervisory authority. « Minister Patrick Muyaya attaches great importance to stability, harmony and cohesion between workers and the management committee. This working session aims precisely to achieve this harmony within the Renatelsat Company (…) Union representatives and the management committee must work together and find mechanisms and means to reach an agreement, » he has said.
Socio-professional resolution-challenge envisaged by the delegation of Renatelsat union.
Christian Mutombo, national president of the Renatelsat union delegation, was optimistic about the resolution of socio-professional and regulatory challenges. ‘These discussions between the parties will lay the foundations for future generations to have the management tools they need to safeguard the interests of workers and our establishment,’ he has said.
The National Satellite Telecommunications Network (Renatelsat) is the only public satellite operator in DRC. Created by presidential decree in 1991, it is under the dual supervision of the Ministries in charge of Communication and Media, and Post, Telecommunications and New Information and Communication Technologies, with the mission of ensuring satellite connectivity throughout the country.
