Kinshasa, October 15th, 2026 (CPA).- President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has issued specific instructions to the national army to further defend territorial integrity and protect the population, during a strategic meeting held on Wednesday at the African Union (AU) headquarters, according to the Presidency.
“Following this strategic meeting, the FARDC Spokesperson, General Sylvain Ekenge, stated that during this briefing, the President of the Republic, in his capacity as Supreme Commander, issued specific instructions to the Armed Forces of DRC and the security services to ensure they fully carry out their mission to defend territorial integrity and protect the civilian population and their property ”, has indicated the source , adding that an assessment of the security situation across the entire national territory was also a key focus of this meeting of the Supreme Defence Council.
“During this meeting, which was attended by the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of National Defence, and the heads of the defence and security services, the Chief of the General Staff of the FARDC presented an assessment of the operational situation of the units deployed across the whole of the national territory,” she has said. The security situation remains a cause for concern, particularly in the eastern part of the country, where the Rwandan aggressor continues to massacre the population and plunder the country’s resources, in breach of the commitments made to respect the ceasefire and to withdraw the Rwandan army and its allies from occupied territories.
On Tuesday, before the United Nations Security Council, DRC once again demanded the withdrawal of Rwandan forces from its territory, an end to all support for the M23-AFC and the full implementation of Resolution 2773.
“The DRC calls for international commitments to be translated into concrete measures, with a focus on the withdrawal of Rwandan forces, the cessation of all support for the M23-AFC and full compliance with Security Council Resolution 2773,” has declared Zénon Mukongo, the DRC’s Ambassador to the United Nations, in a statement released on the same day.
