Kinshasa, June 28th, 2026 (CPA).- Free night bus services, deployed for the second time in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), were scheduled to operate from 10:00 p.m. on Saturday to facilitate the movement of supporters attending the DRC-Uzbekistan World Cup match, according to an official statement. « As part of measures to support the population of Kinshasa, the buses will operate their second night shuttle service from Saturday, June 27, at 10:00 p.m. until Sunday, June 28, at 6:00 a.m., in order to facilitate travel for Kinshasa residents and football supporters before and after the match, » the statement issued by the Provincial Ministry of Transport and Urban Mobility read. The first phase of the initiative involved the deployment of free night buses to support Kinshasa residents during the DRC Leopards’ World Cup matches scheduled at late hours. Provincial Minister of Transport and Urban Mobility Jésus-Noël Sheke had informed the public of the launch of the special night transport program dubbed « Bus de Nuit – Ya Ofelé« (Night bus for free), initiated by Governor Daniel Bumba. According to the statement, the special operation, carried out with the support of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) in partnership with the public transport company Transco, aims to facilitate mobility in Kinshasa during the nights of June 23rd –24th and June 28th –29th, 2026, when the DRC’s World Cup matches are scheduled to kick off late. Under this exceptional arrangement, ten special transport routes will operate from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to ensure the safe movement of supporters, support nighttime economic activities organized for the occasion, and enable Kinshasa residents to fully enjoy these major sporting events under the best possible conditions. The Kinshasa Provincial Government initially launched the program on December 20th, 2025, in partnership with Transco.
