Kinshasa, July 30th, 2025 (CPA).- The effective representation of young people in decision-making bodies in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has been encouraged to ensure a credible and dynamic succession, said the deputy mayor of Limete, a commune in eastern Kinshasa, in a message posted on his X account on Wednesday. ‘Beyond skills, given that young people make up nearly 70% of our population, our institutions must reflect this reality through their leaders. The representation of young people is a democratic issue and a necessity to ensure a credible and dynamic succession within the state apparatus,’ has written Isaac Mukendi, deputy mayor of Limete. He called on political parties to promote young elites in the management of public affairs. ‘Political parties must work towards this goal to further promote young elites in our society,’ he has insisted. « A minister who has truly fulfilled his mission has no need to resort to a social media campaign to influence his reappointment. The Head of State knows how to observe, evaluate and judge each person’s record. So does the people, » he has said. The deputy mayor of Limete’s statement comes at a time when public opinion is questioning the renewal of the government team, in a context marked by calls for meritocracy, transparency and the inclusion of young people in the management of public affairs
