Kinshasa, August 6th, 2026 (CPA). –A memorandum of understanding has been signed on Thursday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), between the microfinance organisation ‘Finca’ and the ‘Transforme’ project, with a view to support Congolese entrepreneurs through the process of disbursing grants under this project. “We have signed a memorandum of understanding with the ‘Transforme’ project to support entrepreneurs who have received grants from the project, with a view to help them manage these funds prudently and create wealth,” has declared Sibia Ngayihembako, Deputy General Director of Finca DRC. “The signing of this memorandum of understanding represents an opportunity to fulfil this mission and indeed our very raison d’être: to support Congolese entrepreneurs,” she has added. Through this agreement, FINCA/DRC and the ‘Transforme’ project reaffirm their shared commitment to improve access to finance, to promote women’s entrepreneurship and to contribute to a more inclusive, innovative and resilient Congolese economy. “We are delighted to be part of this partnership, which will enable us to support more than 1,018 entrepreneurs who will receive their grants via Finca accounts,” she has said. For Finca’s Deputy General Director, this agreement aims to strengthen the Congolese economic fabric through its financial services, with a view to helping people invest, save and participate in the country’s socio-economic development. “We don’t just see numbers; we see the people behind them who are fighting every day to revive DRC’s economy, and we are proud to be able to support them on their journey and enable them to make good use of the funds they will receive.” According to Alexis Mangala, National Coordinator of the Transforme project, this initiative has been launched to empower women and co-entrepreneurs and to upgrade SMEs so that they can contribute to the economic transformation of DRC. He has indicated that this project has three components, and the signing of this memorandum of understanding forms part of Component 1, which specifically supports SMEs and start-ups that have been in existence for less than three (3) years, providing them with technical support to help them develop their businesses. The entire cities covered by this project include Kinshasa, the Kongo Central corridor (including Matadi), Bunia, Mbuji-Mayi and Kananga, it was indicated. Finca is a microfinance organisation that has been operating in DRC since 2003. It currently has 23 branches and 1,700 banking agents across the country’s provinces.
