Kinshasa, August 4th, 2026 (CPA). –AS Maniema Union of Kindu, in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has begun its pre-season preparations in Kintele, in the Republic of the Congo, with the first day devoted to fitness assessments, ahead of technical work with the ball, according to the club’s official channels consulted on Tuesday by CPA.
“The Unionists have kicked off their preparations in Kintele with the first day devoted to fitness assessments. The programme included field tests in the morning, followed by strength tests indoors in the evening – an essential step in gauging the players’ fitness levels before they begin ball work,” it is read. The Unionists’ delegation has arrived safely in Kintele, accompanied by a new coaching staff led by the new Cameroonian head coach, Mauril Mesack Njoya.
This is a highly ambitious Maniema Union side that has signed many new players, with the aim of having a successful 2026–2027 season. Isaac Wilangi is the latest recruit, a versatile defender capable of playing both in central defence and on the left flank, joining from DC Motema Pembe (DCMP) from Kinshasa. Wilangi has signed a contract for the next five seasons, confirming the management’s commitment to strengthen the backbone of the team ahead of national and continental competitions. This preparation phase will enable the coaching staff to assess the squad’s physical capabilities, facilitate the integration of new recruits and gradually establish the necessary team dynamics ahead of the start of the season.
