France-DRC: A scientific and cultural symposium on health scheduled for June 28th

Kinshasa, June 23rd, 2025 (CPA).- The first edition of the scientific and cultural symposium on health will be held on Saturday  June 28th 2025 in Paris, at the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in France, CPA has  learned on Monday from the organisers. ‘This symposium is fully in line with the vision of the Head of State, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who calls upon all Congolese, wherever they may be in the world, to actively participate in the sustainable development process of  DRC,’  has announced Dr Bienvenu Ileka, President and founder of the non-profit organisation Santequiz. ‘It also reflects the leadership of the Minister in charge of Health, Dr Roger Kamba, who is working to create an inclusive and mobilising framework, enabling Congolese people from all walks of life to contribute to the progress of their country,’ he has  added. The organisation of this event, Dr Ileka  has continued, also benefits from the dynamism of Mr Emile Ngoy, DRC Ambassador in France, who is working to make the ‘Maison Congo’ a true centre, a crossroads of ideas and concrete solutions where the Congolese diaspora in France and elsewhere can propose and implement projects for the benefit of the nation. According to the doctor, DRC is facing many challenges in terms of public health, which can only be overcome with the collective involvement of all its active forces, including the diaspora, which remains a strategic resource that is still under-exploited. ‘This conference provides a space for reflection, exchange and collaboration, bringing together the expertise of the Congolese diaspora and other international partners around the issue of improving health conditions in DRC,’ he has specified. According to the organisers, the aim of this conference is to mobilise expertise, information and initiatives in an inclusive and constructive approach to accelerate the development of the health system in all its dimensions. The event also aims to lay the foundations for a permanent framework for collaboration aimed at concrete actions and ‘win-win’ partnerships in key areas, namely scientific research, continuing education, specialisation of service providers, innovation and new technologies for a more authentic and resilient health system in the face of current challenges.  Among the topics to be addressed are investment in health, technological innovation, training and specialisation opportunities for Congolese health professionals in Europe, and the reintegration of Congolese brains to improve healthcare in DRC, not to mention other equally essential subjects. Following on from this conference, the organisers have announced an ‘Immersion’ programme from September 29th to October 3rd, 2025, which will enable 20 members of the non-profit organisation Santequiz to discover the French healthcare system in an immersive way and work on joint projects such as the creation of innovative and sustainable healthcare structures. Under the theme ‘The Congolese diaspora, an opportunity to improve health conditions in DRC’, this first edition of the scientific and cultural conference on health is organised by the non-profit organisation Santequiz, under the patronage of the Ministry in charge of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Welfare, with the active support of DRC Embassy in France.
