The signing of this agreement marks a decisive step that formalizes Guineaâs participation in a major multinational project. It paves the way for the launching of marine surveys, the operational preparation for the cable landing, and the projectâs effective entry into its implementation phase.
In his remarks, the Minister in charge of Communication, Digital Economy, and Innovation, Mourana Soumah, has thanked the President of the Republic, Mamadi Doumbouya, for his clear and consistent vision that places digital technology at the heart of Guineaâs economic transformation. He has also praised the Prime Ministerâs commitment, whose the governmentâs actions are setting a new pace for the implementation of infrastructure projects. This is evident on a daily basis, particularly in digital projects, he has said. For his part, the Prime Minister and Head of Government Amadou Oury Bah has addressed Guineaâs delay in integrating into major international digital infrastructure. âSince thirteen years, the first cable is arrived in Guinea several years late. At that time, certain officials had led President Lansana ContĂ© to believe that this would undermine our national sovereignty. There was talk of a loss of sovereignty and a cost of ten million dollars. Yet, it was a strategic investment. When you donât fully understand an issue, you need to educate yourself and observe what other countries are doing. The world is changing, and the responsibility of leaders is not to limit their vision to individual considerations, but to anticipate the changes of tomorrow,â he has emphasized. With this agreement, Guinea is now positioning itself as a strategic hub for digital infrastructure in West Africa. The MEDUSA AFRICA project is expected to enhance the countryâs appeal for infrastructure investments and drive a new regional dynamic in connectivity.
