Kinshasa, June 12th, 2025 (CPA) – A consignment of medical equipment and household appliances was handed over on Wednesday to the neonatology department of the university clinics of Kinshasa (CUK), located in the municipality of Lemba, in the centre of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, during a ceremony. « We met here at the University Clinics of Kinshasa as part of the continuity of the social assistance that our company provides to hospitals. We are providing our hospitals with adequate medical equipment and electrical appliances, » has declared Francine Mazule, office assistant at Fouani Congo. ‘In this context, our company thought to the CUK to make this small gesture that will allow them to be close to the population by supporting the vision of the Head of State, that of free maternity,’ she has added. Furthermore, Dr Therese Biselele, head of the neonatology department, has welcomed the gesture by the company ‘Fouani Congo’, which aims to support the CUK. ‘This donation consists of household electrical equipment, in particular a fridge that we will use to store milk and medicines for premature babies in the neonatal unit, and television sets for the mothers’, she has explained. She has also pointed out that the donation came at just the right time, as free care for mothers and new-born babies was launched by the Head of State, Felix Tshisekedi, in September 2023. « This establishment is a tertiary referral hospital. Since the launch of universal health cover in DRC, we have been receiving children under the free new-born care scheme« , she has emphasized. According to Dr Biselele, in neonatology, ‘we receive a lot of children, and this gesture supports the action of the Head of State, by offering this equipment to make mothers and new-borns more comfortable, as well as us nursing staff, so that we can store medicines and all new-borns products properly’. Last Tuesday, the N’djili referral hospital has also received a batch of medical equipment, including beds, freezers, etc.
