Lubumbashi, October 14th, 2026 (CPA): – A call for unity to preserve peace has been launched by the President of the Provincial Assembly of Haut-Katanga, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), at the headquarters of this deliberative body in Lubumbashi, the provincial chief town, CPA has learnt on Wednesday from a parliamentary source. “We must unite as one to preserve peace across the entire national territory in general and within the province in particular. Regardless of whether we are in the majority or the opposition, we have only one country, and Haut-Katanga is our province; therefore, we must not focus on theatres taking place in the East,” Michel Kabwe Mwamba, President of this political institution, has emphasised. And adding: “Provincial deputies are required to inform the public that when the final actor appears, the film is drawing to a close. This aggression has, directly or indirectly, cost lives of prominent figures because of infiltrations. We are the owners of these lands and we will fight to secure this peace.” He has invited everyone to continue working, as the impacts and achievements are visible. “Today we have new buildings, roads and the works of “5 chantiers” no longer exist. Territories are equipped with administrative offices and asphalted roads,” he has explained. And he has asked Young people to discourage their fellow citizens from giving in to the manipulation of rebels and to follow the lead in protecting the Republic, in order to secure the future of our children and block the road to the plans orchestrated by Rwandans. “We are in our final stage of giving birth to peace and we must unite to make it happen,” he has concluded.
