Lubumbashi, October 19th, 2026 (CPA). – The security forces are determined to secure the province of Haut-Katanga, the province’s acting governor has indicated, following a meeting of the provincial security committee held on Monday in Lubumbashi, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). “I reassure the people of Haut-Katanga that the law enforcement agencies and all the officials and commanders of the security services are determined to guarantee their safety. In Haut-Katanga province, there is no place for rebellion,” Martin Kazembe, interim governor of Haut-Katanga has said. “During the regular meeting of the Provincial Security Committee, we have reviewed the entire security situation in Haut-Katanga province. This security situation has not left us indifferent, and we have noted with regret that a former president has betrayed the nation by leading a movement.  At the same opportunity, we wish to reassure the Supreme Commander, the President of the Republic, Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, that the Provincial Security Committee of Haut-Katanga stands behind him, and we remain determined to stand in the way of anyone who dares to threaten the security of the people of Haut-Katanga,” he has added. The governor has firmly assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that Haut-Katanga remains impervious to any insurrectionary threat.
