Justice: the Minister’s support sought to put an end to the plundering of a company

Kinshasa, July 30th, 2026 (CPA). – The support of the Minister in charge of Justice of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been sought on Wednesday by officials of the Bakwanga Mining Company (MIBA) to put an end to the plundering of the company, according to a press release from the ministry’s communications unit, consulted on Thursday by CPA. “The discussions have focused on the measures to be taken to put an end to these illegal occupations and ensure the long-term protection of the company’s assets,” it is read.

According to this source, those representatives of MIBA have denounced during the meeting a recent process of land parcelling that had led to tensions with the company’s staff, following the allocation of land occupied by workers and the start of new construction projects. However, they have welcomed the withdrawal of the provincial decree that gave rise to this situation, believing that it paves the way for a lasting resolution of the matter. This same source has also added that the delegation has submitted a request to Minister Guillaume Ngefa with a view to “putting a definitive end to acts of dispossession targeting MIBA’s assets.” For his part, Minister Guillaume Ngefa has reaffirmed his commitment to support the efforts to protect MIBA’s assets and to ensure that the law is upheld in this matter, has said Dr Andre Kabanda, MIBA’s Chief Executive Officer.  It should be reminded that the BakwangaMining Company (MIBA) is a state-owned enterprise in DRC founded in 1961 and specialising in diamond mining.
