Mbuji-Mayi, October 12th, 2026 (CPA): – Ninety-five (95) human rights inspectors have been decorated in Mbuji-Mayi, the chief town of Kasai-Oriental province in the centre of the Democratic Republic of Congo, following five days of training aiming at promoting and protecting human rights, CPA has learnt from local sources on Monday. “We have just decorated the new inspectors from the second promotion, here in Kasai-Oriental Province in general, and in the city of Mbuji-Mayi in particular. The new inspectors trained and decorated are here to monitor human rights violations and report them. They must keep a watchful eye everywhere, whether at government level, in the city, in hospitals, churches or schools.
”, Bienfait Mukanda, inspector-trainer, has declared at the Human Rights Office centre. He has explained that the ultimate aim of this training was to have an inspector in every sphere, with plans to train a third promotion. “This coming Monday, right here, we will continue with the training of the third promotion. We need to ensure that every neighbourhood, every home, has human rights inspectors. Among the 150 participants, we have certified 95,” he has added. “Firstly, you should be aware that we work within the framework of civil society to promote and protect human rights. This means that human rights defenders and inspectors work on a voluntary basis. You should be aware that human dignity must be respected and that peace is the presence of justice,” he has concluded.
