Kinshasa: a batch of loincloths offered to the female staff of the Provincial Assembly

Kinshasa, June 24th, 2025 (CPA) – A batch of loincloths has been offered to the female staff of the Provincial Assembly of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the occasion of Independence Day on Monday 30 June, during an exchange with the Vice-President of this deliberative body.

‘As you know, June 30th, is the anniversary of our independence, especially in relation to 8 March. I wasn’t able to meet you because the east of our country was invaded and wounded, and I didn’t think it was the right time for festivities. Even now, it’s not the time for festivities, but I still wanted to give you a little present. It’s a batch of loincloths that I’m giving you for this occasion’, said Germaine Tshinyama, Vice-Speaker of the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly. She invited the women to meditate, to pray for the country and, above all, to educate their children in true patriotic values. ‘I invite you to pray for our country and to make children understand what is at stake in the east of the country’, she urged. For their part, the administrative and political staff of this assembly thanked the vice-president for her show of sympathy towards them. ‘On the occasion of the day of meditation organized by the Honorable Germaine Tshinyama, we, the female staff of the Provincial Assembly of the city of Kinshasa, would like to express our heartfelt thanks for your show of sympathy. In times of difficulty and happiness, you have never stopped thinking about us. This shows your love and unfailing support for us’, said the president of the women’s administration of the provincial assembly of Kinshasa.

The Democratic Republic of Congo celebrates its independence on June 30th. This day marks the end of Belgian colonization and the birth of the Congolese nation on the international stage.
