Kinshasa, November 17th, 2025 (CPA). – A drop in petroleum product prices was observed on Monday in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, following a survey of certain petrol stations by the CPA.
« A liter of petrol, which was selling for 2,690 Congolese francs yesterday, Sunday, is now priced at 2,440 francs. In addition, diesel has gone from CDF 2,680 to CDF 2,430, a reduction of at least CDF 250 on each of these products, » said Mr. Richard, head pump attendant at the Cobil Okapi station in Gombe, when interviewed by our reporter. ‘You only have to look at the pump. You will see that prices have indeed fallen in line with the new price list,’ he said.
According to him, this reduction is a direct consequence of the appreciation of the Congolese franc on the market, with the dollar rate falling in particular. This price revision has brought temporary relief to drivers and economic operators, who are often faced with rising fuel prices that directly affect the cost of public transport and consumer goods. This new price list is part of the Congolese franc’s appreciation trend observed for nearly a month on the foreign exchange market.
Visit by the Minister in charge of Hydrocarbons to verify the implementation of the price reduction measure

The Minister in charge of Hydrocarbons visited several petrol stations in the commune of Gombe on Monday to verify the effectiveness of the reduction in the price of petroleum products at the pump. ‘It was important for us to see, on the ground, that the government’s decision is being respected and that consumers are really benefiting from the price reduction,’ said Acacia Bandubola, Minister of Hydrocarbons, during her visit. She said that the purpose of the visit was to ensure that the stations were strictly applying the new pricing structure. Since Monday, the price of petrol has been set at CDF 2,440, while the price of diesel has been reduced to CDF 2,430, in accordance with the government measure, which has been welcomed by users. It should be noted that three factors influence the pricing of petroleum products in the Democratic Republic of Congo: the average border price, the volume consumed under the management of the Ministry in charge of Hydrocarbons, and the exchange rate, which is regulated by the Ministry in charge of Finance and the Central Bank of Congo.
