Kinshasa, October 8th, 2026 (CPA).- The city of Kinshasa has a significant potential to turn its creativity into opportunities, has indicated its governor on Thursday at the launching of the World Music and Tourism Festival in the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). “Kinshasa is recognised as a Creative City of Music by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). It has a significant potential to turn its creativity into opportunities. Choosing Kinshasa means choosing a history, an energy, an identity,” has declared Daniel Bumba, Governor of Kinshasa. Mr Bumba has indicated that DRC intends to use its cultural diversity and talent not only as a means of promoting its reputation, but also as drivers of development, cohesion and the creation of opportunities, adding that the staging of this festival is fully in line with this approach. “On this solemn occasion, I would like (…) to pay a respectful tribute to Felix Tshisekedi, President of the Republic and Head of State, whose vision places great importance on DRC’s international influence, the promotion of its cultural identity and its openness to the world,” has said the governor. In his view, tourism offers the opportunity to showcase a different side of the Congolese capital. “Indeed, the city is brimming with hidden treasures. Built on the banks of the majestic Congo River, rich in its ecological sanctuaries and historical trails, Kinshasa invites visitors to explore, marvel and share,” he has explained. Over the course of three days, the capital aims to foster encounters, cultural dialogue, discovery, partnerships and economic opportunities by bringing together artists, tourism professionals, business operators, and provincial and international delegations.
