Kinshasa, October 22nd, 2026 (CPA) . – Human capital was presented on Thursday in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), as a key driver of entrepreneurial success, enabling the creation of business opportunities, during a conference held as part of the Women’s Summit.
“Human capital is the ability to transform people’s skills, talents and potential into business opportunities, jobs and projects capable of generating a lasting impact,” said Victoria Kayila, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Victoria Business. According to her, before investing in setting up a business, it is essential to start by investing in oneself, particularly by developing one’s skills and strengthening one’s knowledge.
“Investing in oneself means training, identifying one’s skills and turning them into assets before embarking on an entrepreneurial venture. You can’t just wake up one morning and decide to start a business simply because everyone else is doing it.
Today, we have many entrepreneurs who are not sufficiently trained,” she explained. On this occasion, Ms Kayila advised young entrepreneurs to prepare themselves before going into business, by taking the time to identify their skills and choose a field of activity suited to their profile.
“For my part, I turned to the property sector, a field in which many women do not get sufficiently involved. I started by investing in a flat which I rent out on a short-term basis.
Agents brought me clients and I found that this business was profitable. However, when there are no clients, you are sometimes forced to bear the cost of renting out the flat on your own,” she added.
Ms Kayila emphasized the importance of continuous training and personal development for success in entrepreneurship. She highlighted the importance of investing in oneself, through acquiring knowledge and strengthening skills. ACP/
