Kinshasa, August 18th, 2025 (CPA) – Singer Ferre Gola from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has announced his participation on 6 September in the ‘Heshima’ festival, a celebration of urban culture and rumba in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, in a video viewed by CPA on Monday.
‘The date is set for Saturday, 6 September at the Heshima festival, which is part of a dynamic celebration of urban culture and rumba, at the heart of a vibrant Congolese heritage. I will be on stage at the Cultural and Artistic Centre of Central African Countries (CcapAc),’ has said singer Ferre Gola. Known for his hit songs such as ‘Amour illusoire,’ ‘Double Taux,’ ‘Seconde chance’ and many others, singer Ferre Gola has also promised to connect with his music lovers during his concert in a vibrant and resolutely festive atmosphere.
‘On 6 September, urban culture and Congolese rumba will come together for the better,’ wrote Alain Mabanckou, a Franco-Congolese novelist (winner of the Renaudot Prize in 2006) and close friend of the singer, on his X account. Designed as a large-scale, artistic, and intergenerational celebration, this festival offers music lovers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Congolese rumba, classified by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, as well as other musical styles such as Afrobeat, rap, Amapiano, DJing, and street music.
Several artists and music programmers from the Democratic Republic of Congo, such as Gally Garvey, Cédrick Bokamona (aka DJ Abdoul), Sarah Rena (aka Rihanna of Africa), and many others, are also expected to grace the festival with their presence.
