Kinshasa: ‘the sexist exhibition constitutes a lack of dignity towards women’ (An activist)

Kinshasa, May 26th, 2025 ( CPA) – The sexist and nudist exhibition that has become commonplace on social networks has been presented as a lack of dignity towards women in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), according to the Facebook account of a women’s rights activist, consulted by CPA on Monday.

My dear big and little sisters, the sexist and nudist exposure that has become commonplace on social networks constitutes a lack of respect and dignity towards us. Stop, I repeat, stop this nonsense, whatever your reasons and motivations for filming yourself during intimate moments with your partners‘, has said Nathalie Kambala Luse, President of the NGO “ Woman Hand in Hand for Integral Development (FMMI) ”.

Ms Kambala took the opportunity to urge her community to use New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT) responsibly and with respect.  ‘I ask you to use NICTs to strengthen your resilience and autonomy. Use social networks for training, coaching, evangelising the word of God, educating society and sharing your experiences to contribute to the development of our communities’, she has exhorted. She has also emphasised the ethics and morality that should guide conjugal relationships, while calling out men and women who, in a spirit of nuisance, share nudist videos and images of intimacy on social networks.

These practices constitute an offence and psychological violence’, she has said. Grateful to have recently been appointed as one of the female ambassadors in the fight against gender-based sexual violence (GBV), Nathalie Kambala Luse has been fighting for thirteen years with her NGO FMMDI, based in Kananga, an area heavily affected by GBV in the Central Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her message comes as intimate videos of a Congolese influencer have gone viral on social networks, with comments exposing her to a campaign of denigration. ACP/
