Kinshasa, October 9th, 2025 (CPA) .- The National Electricity Company (Snel) has condemned on Thursday a case of theft of monopolar cables from its Niangara electricity cabin in the municipality of Ngiri-Ngiri, south of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to a press release from the company received by CPA. « We are reporting the theft of monopolar cables from the Niangara cabin located on the border between the Diangenda and Assossa neighbourhoods, in the municipality of Ngiri-Ngiri », it is read. Furthermore, the source has also deplored this second act of vandalism, which occurred a few days after the replacement of cables previously stolen from the same cabin, and which highlights the continuing vulnerability of electrical installations in the capital. « It should be pointed out that the cables stolen from the same cabin had only just been replaced last weekend, following the first theft », has added the source. Faced with this resurgence of vandalism acts, Snel has announced that a complaint against an unknown person will be lodged with the relevant authorities, and has called on the public to protect the electrical infrastructures.
