Kinshasa, July 7th, 2025 (CPA).- The Congolese young girls have been urged on Monday to make the most of digital technology during the school holidays, according to the head of an organisation, speaking at the second edition of Camp d’Aspiration, held in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
« We ask you, the girls, future parents and great women of this country, to make an effort to value and make good use of digital technology during your school holidays. It is important to realise that the digital age encourages us to spend a lot of time on our phones looking for information that is often useless and, instead of shaping our future, is slowly destroying us,‘ has declared Bijoux Banyaku, founder of the ’Dream, Dare, Achieve » Inspiration Movement. ‘Sometimes, this excessive use distances us from the ideal and leads us into practices that compromise our future, especially during the holidays, as this is an opportunity for young girls to turn their gaze towards a fruitful and prosperous future,’ she has added. To this end, she has invited the participants to awaken their potential and dream of becoming the influential women of tomorrow, before emphasising that, ‘Today, as young girls, we must realise that the future of tomorrow is me, it is you, it is us who will shape this country in a few years’ time.’
Collective awareness is necessary
Furthermore, Ms Banyaku has called for awareness because young people are the future of the country. « When our parents, our mothers, our educators and our teachers are no longer here, what kind of women will we be if we do not realise that our turn to govern this country is coming? We must not let new information technology influence us negatively. We must say NO, because we are the future of this country, » she has insisted. ‘I hope that each of us can identify a role model and follow in the footsteps of an influential woman,’ she has concluded.
