Kongo Central : Tshela population reassured about youth employment

Tshela, September 30th, 2025 (CPA).– On Tuesday, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo reassured the population of the Tshela territory in Central Kongo (south-west) about youth employment, which is a priority for the government, during her meeting in this part of the country.  ‘Youth employment is of utmost concern to us, and the Head of State has assigned us the primary objective of providing them with jobs,’ said Prime Minister Judith Suminwa. She specified that for Kongo Central in particular, the prospects are concrete and immediate, citing the construction of the deep-water port of Banana and the entire economic ecosystem that this structuring project will bring. Taking advantage of her stay in this part of the country, the Head of Government gave an encouraging assessment of the Local Development Programme for the 145 territories, recalling its deployment in Tshela.  ‘The Head of State wants to connect all the territories of the country by road to allow people to move freely.

Let no one deceive you by claiming that Félix Tshisekedi is doing nothing and that the Government is doing nothing. That is false. Slowly but surely, we are moving towards development. I assure you of that,’ she said. For opening up the region and comprehensive development ‘We want the road leading to Singini to go all the way to the city of Nkamba and connect with it. This is a clear goal, and the Minister of Infrastructure is now responsible for making this imperative of opening up the region and comprehensive development a reality,’ said Judith Suminwa.

The Prime Minister called on the population to be patient, while reaffirming the Government’s commitment to opening up the region. Upon her arrival in the territory of Lukula, the Head of Government was able to see for herself the progress of the work carried out by the CREC-7 company and supervised by the Congolese Agency for Major Works (ACGT).  This thorough inspection confirmed the fulfilment of a promise made by the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, to the local population and elected officials who had been calling for the construction and modernization of this symbolic road.

This strategic 112-kilometre section of National Road No. 12 (RN12) is of paramount importance. Economically, it will enable the transport of goods to consumption centers; historically, it leads to the mausoleum of the first President of the DRC and one of the founding fathers of the nation, Joseph Kasa-Vubu.
