Bandundu, April 21st, 2026 (CPA).– A trade unionist on Tuesday called on the relevant authorities in Bandundu, Kwilu province, in the south-west of the Democratic Republic of Congo, to promote the pharmacist profession in this part of the country, during an interview with CPA. “I call on the competent authorities to enhance the pharmacist profession, with a view to cleaning up this vital sector of life for the well-being of the community,” said Michel Tipol, focal point of the pharmacists’ union of former Bandundu. “The sanitation of this sector requires the involvement of politico-administrative authorities to raise public awareness about the role of a pharmacist in society,” he added. Mr. Tipol noted that a pharmacist must be a graduate of the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences, while also stressing the need for the population to understand the use of medicines before taking them, in compliance with medical prescriptions. He called on the population to remain vigilant, arguing that expired pharmaceutical products have harmful consequences on human life, before pointing out that politico-administrative authorities in Mai-Ndombe province do not facilitate the work of pharmaceutical inspection services to operate freely.
