Kolwezi, May 15th, 2025 (CPA) – The unity of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the general situation in Lualaba, a province in the south-east of the country, were the subject of an exchange on Wednesday in Kolwezi between the Prime Minister, Judith Suminwa, and the various sections of the population of this mining province. ‘At this time of war, when the country is under attack in the East, and we have seen the territorial integrity of our country violated by Rwanda and its auxiliaries, it is important to continue to share a single word and a single wish: the unity of the country. Because this territorial unity is the foundation of our territorial integrity’, declared Judith Suminwa, at the end of meetings with traditional chiefs, representatives of religious denominations, youth and political parties belonging to the Sacred Union of the Nation, as well as civil society.

The representatives of each section of the population conveyed their grievances to the head of the DRC government.
For their part, the traditional chiefs pleaded for the rehabilitation of agricultural feeder roads and the acceleration of the local development program for the 145 territories. Representatives of civil society and young people addressed the issues of local processing of mining and agricultural products and youth employment respectively. Representatives of religious denominations expressed their support for the efforts made by the Head of State to restore peace in the DRC, while the political parties belonging to the Sacred Union of the Nation were pleased to be speaking the same language, looking in the same direction, at a time when the country is in the peace process phase. These sections of the population are all hoping that their demands will be taken into account through concrete action by the central and provincial governments of Lualaba.
