Kinshasa, June 12th, 2025 (CPA) – The Provincial Inspectorate of the Congolese National Police in Lualaba (in the south of the Democratic Republic of Congo) was called upon by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Interior, during an exchange of views in Kolwezi on Wednesday, to firmly punish dishonest officers who tarnish the image of the police, according to a press release. ‘(The Deputy Prime Minister) challenged the Provincial Inspectorate of the PNC-Lualaba on its responsibility in disciplinary matters, urging it to firmly sanction indelicate officers who tarnish the image of the police and disturb public peace’, it read. According to the source, Deputy Prime Minister Jacquemain Shabani met with the provincial command of the Congolese National Police in Kolwezi, in the province of Lualaba, to enquire about the working conditions of police officers in this mining entity. On this occasion, he issued directives to combat bad practices, particularly with regard to securing mining sites and protecting local populations. Jacquemain Shabani also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the living conditions of police officers and their families, in line with the vision of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi. To this end, the Deputy Prime Minister announced the launch of the ‘Ndobo’ (Hook) operation to track down incivilities, with the aim of strengthening the technical and financial resources of the Lualaba Provincial Police Station. In his view, this initiative will also help to combat crime effectively in mining areas and urban areas. In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Interior, taking advantage of his stay in this part of the country as part of the 12th session of the provincial governors’ conference, inspected the construction site of the new police station in the commune of Manika-Sud.
As well as the local police station, the building will house the PNC Provincial Inspectorate and the headquarters of the Road Traffic Police.ACP/
