Lusambo: a call for hard work from town hall employees

Lusambo, April 9th, 2025 (CPA)- At a meeting of the local security council on Tuesday, the mayor of Lusambo, capital of Sankuru province in the centre of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has called on staff and managers of the urban administration to work regularly.  « I have called on the agents and heads of urban administration departments to be aware and to report for duty every day, because absenteeism and desertion without justification could in the long run lead to serious sanctions, resulting in their removal from their posts, as provided for in the labour code« , has declared Louis Manga Lupantsha, mayor of the town of Lusambo. And to add: « Everyone must be at work by 8.30 at the latest, every day except Saturday, in order to honour the instructions of the Congolese state« . “At the same time, Mr Louis Manga has pointed out that the Head of State, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who is the supreme head of the administration, is struggling day and night to improve the salary conditions of Congolese civil servants. We must also be efficient in our administrative work« , has added the mayor of Lusambo. The urban authority has also explained that this meeting of the local security council was held not only to respect working hours, but also to reassure all workers and administrative staff not to panic because of rumours following the insecurity sown by the rebels of the M23 movement (M23), supported by the Rwandan army in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
