Kindu, April 2nd, 2026 (CPA).- Bags of white rice have been donated on Thursday to inmates at Kindu Central Prison, the main town of Maniema province in the central-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), by the pupils from a secondary school on the occasion of Easter week. “It is in the spirit of solidarity during this Holy Week of Easter, marked by sharing, prayer and sacrifice, that the pupils of the Enano Institute have taken it upon themselves to contribute by each donating two cups (Sakombe) of white rice, as a way of sharing with the needy in the local communities of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Kindu and the inmates of the central prison,” has declared Stanislas Kalonda, the teacher in charge of pastoral care at this school, which is under the management of the Marist Brothers.
And to add: “We ask the beneficiaries to be grateful for whatever the students offer them, according to their means.” On this occasion, he has promised to continue with charitable initiatives every year in support of orphans, widows and all those in need in Kindu.
