Maniema: new residents of a municipality in Kindu asked to identify themselves

Kindu, April 3rd, 2025 (CPA) – An appeal for the identification of new inhabitants to the security services in the municipality of Kasuku has been launched on Wednesday in the said municipality, in Kindu, main town of the Maniema Province, in the centre-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, CPA has learnt from a communal source.

‘We have recently deplored the upsurge in cases of growing insecurity perpetrated by unidentified armed men in my administrative entity, and this situation is creating a psychosis among my constituents, which is why I am appealing to the entire population who recently live in the various avenues, blocks and neighbourhoods of my municipality, to identify themselves to the security services of this municipality, in particular the DGM, the ANR and the PNC,’ has declared Fatuma Kalonda, Burgomaster of the municipality of Kasuku. In her opinion, ‘this call to identify new residents is part of the fight not only against growing insecurity, but also to combat and dismantle all networks of criminals whose homes are in this municipality’.

On this occasion, the municipal authority has promised severe penalties in the form of fines to be imposed on anyone caught up in the movement of armed bandits and their collaborators to destabilise the population during the night, as the security services are hard at work. She called on the population to report any suspicious cases in their vital areas.
