Kinshasa, July 30th, 2025 (CPA) – The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), through the Ministry in charge of Economy, on Tuesday offered local entrepreneurs and a Portuguese construction company based in Angola a framework for exchanges to bring together ideas, according to a statement seen by CPA on Wednesday. ‘With a view to connecting foreign businessmen and investors interested in DRC with Congolese entrepreneurs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of National Economy Daniel Mukoko Samba met with the Mota-Engil Angola group, a Portuguese company specializing in construction, engineering and waste management,’ it is read. ‘The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum for exchanges between private partners to identify common ground in terms of ideas, projects and interests,’ has said Daniel Mukoko Samba, quoted in the press release. “According to the source, this meeting is part of the Congolese government’s desire to encourage the involvement of national entrepreneurs in economic development. For DRC government, the best way to access the Congolese market is through local entrepreneurs, » it is added. According to the Minister in charge of Economy, ‘the Congolese private sector can be an accelerator of initiatives.’ This exchange brought together several businessmen from the infrastructure, supply chain management, urban waste management and energy sectors, including PPC Barnet, Gecotrans, Trade Services, Groupe Ledya, etc. In addition, on Wednesday, the minister met with the heads of two foreign companies operating in Angola. These are the Sun Africa group, an American company operating in the photovoltaic energy sector, and Carmon Global, a 100% Angolan Construction Company. The meeting was an opportunity to learn from Angola’s achievements in post-conflict reconstruction. « We share a common history with Angola. This neighboring country has experienced nearly 30 years of civil war, and for 30 years our country, DRC, has been plagued by instability in its eastern region. However, we are confident that the new dynamic that is emerging will enable us to break out of this unfortunate cycle, » has said the Congolese minister.
