Kinshasa, November 16th, 2025 (CPA).- The UN Security Council will vote on Monday on a US draft resolution supporting President Donald Trump’s plan for peace in Gaza, the international media have reported. ‘Washington has called for a vote on its draft resolution, diplomatic sources indicate, stressing that the document distributed by the United States aims to support the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza and urge all parties to implement it immediately and in full,’ the sources have indicated. The same sources have explained that an explicit reference had been added to the draft resolution to a ‘path to self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state,’ as well as to tWOhe role of the United States in launching a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians for a ‘political perspective of peaceful and prosperous coexistence,’ they have added. The same sources have specified that the US draft resolution stipulates that the Peace Council’s authority and supervision of the Gaza Strip would be ‘transitional’. In a joint statement issued last Friday, the US have urged eight countries that played a role in brokering the Gaza ceasefire, namely Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan and Turkey, to ‘quickly adopt’ the latest US draft resolution by the UN Security Council. These countries must ensure that the latest US draft resolution is ‘quickly adopted’ by the UN Security Council. Other sources have reported that the US plan could obtain the nine votes needed for adoption, with the possibility that Russia and China will abstain from voting rather than use their veto. ACP/
