Kinshasa, April 21st, 2025 (CPA) – Russia and Ukraine have accused each other on Sunday of breaking the Easter truce announced last Saturday by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the fringes of the Universal Church Day celebrations, the international medias have reported.
‘’In general, on Easter morning, we can say that the Russian army is trying to give the general impression of a ceasefire, while continuing in certain regions isolated attempts to advance and inflict losses on Ukraine, » has declared Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian President. The Russian President had ordered his troops to observe a ceasefire in Ukraine for Easter, from 6pm on Saturday in Kiev until the night of Sunday to Monday at midnight.
For its part, the Russian Ministry in charge of Defence has accused Kiev of having ‘attempted to attack’ Russian positions in Donetsk, despite the truce. He has, in its turn claimed to have ‘repelled’ Ukrainian attacks launched during the night: ‘Despite the announcement of the Easter truce, Ukrainian units have attempted to attack Russian positions in the Sukha Balka and Bahatyr zones in the Donetsk People’s Republic during the night, but these attacks have been repelled’.
‘The EU is demonstrating its intention to re-establish Nazi ideology’ (Russian Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs)
In addition, Russian Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, has accused the European Union of being behind a restoration of Nazi ideology, international Medias have reported. ‘The ban made by the European Union on the leaders of the Member States travelling to Moscow for the celebration of the Great Victory over Nazism on May 9th bears witness to the restoration of Nazi ideology in Europe,’ has declared Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs.
His declarations come after the ban imposed by the EU on the leaders of its Member States from travelling to Moscow for the Victory over Nazism celebrations on May 9th. ‘There are no words to describe this phenomenon. It is totally astonishing, and I am not being ironic, that the European Union openly wants to revive the European ideology of Nazism’, he has stressed. Sergei Lavrov has indicated that the leaders of the Brussels bureaucracy are « at the head of this process », and Russia will not accept it. ‘We will do everything to ensure that this ideology is not revived, that it must be destroyed once and for all, and that Europe rediscovers its values’, has indicated the head of Russian diplomacy.
