Kinshasa, April 7th, 2026 (CPA) – The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) boys’ under-15 (U15) football team, the Young Leopards, were eliminated in the first round of the African School Football Championship after a 0-6 defeat against Uganda on Tuesday in Harare, Zimbabwe, during the third matchday of Group A, according to the Fecofa website.
Following a 1-6 loss to Morocco and a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the first two matches, the young Congolese players left the tournament with 1 point and a goal difference of 2 goals scored against 13 conceded in three outings. This difficult campaign highlighted the gap with better-prepared nations. Nevertheless, beyond the disappointment, the experience is expected to serve as a valuable lesson for the young Leopards to correct their mistakes and grow for the future.
