Strategies for transforming informal entrepreneurship into formal entrepreneurship explained in Kinshasa

Kinshasa, August 7th, 2025 (CPA) – Strategies for transforming informal entrepreneurship into formal entrepreneurship  have been explained, on Wednesday, to female entrepreneurs by the director of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS-DRC), during a workshop in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.  ‘The concern of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services has been to raise awareness among all women entrepreneurs in general, and those working in the informal sector in particular, to participate in our activities in order to lend a helping hand to the success and economic emergence of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which has long been dominated by foreigners,’ has declared Annie Biongo, Director of the CCIS-DRC.  During this workshop, which focused on the theme ‘how to move from informal to formal entrepreneurship,’ Ms. Biongo has urged women entrepreneurs to have vision, passion, resilience, creativity, and leadership, but also business acumen and the ability to take initiative in order to succeed in business.  ‘The entrepreneurship is the pursuit of an opportunity beyond the resources you control,’ she has said.   She has referred to the need to seize every business opportunity that arises and to know how to innovate and create start-ups.  ‘All income-generating activities or economic operations carried out in accordance with the organic laws and constitution of DRC, but not recognised by state services, are illegal and informal,’ she has said. ‘All income-generating activities or economic operations carried out in accordance with the organic laws and constitution of DRC, but not recognised by state services, are illegal and informal,’ she has explained, adding that if an economic operator formalises its income-generating activities with state services and remains operational, it is a formal business.  She has, in her speech, thanked Mr Jean Robert Isifua Bokumbe, President of the Chamber, who, through his vision of contributing to the socio-economic emergence of DRC, has succeeded in setting up several private companies.  CPA/
