Kinshasa, July 30th, 2026 (CPA/Xinhua). – The spokesperson for the Ministry in charge of National Defence has indicated on Thursday that the Japan’s nuclear ambitions constitute a red line that must never be crossed, in response to repeated declarations by his Japanese counterpart that Tokyo should debate its nuclear policies without taboos, the Xinhua News Agency has informed. “The Japan’s nuclear ambitions constitute a red line that must never be crossed; I wonder whether the Japanese side is using these remarks to test the tolerance of public opinion and pave the way for its malicious attempts to undermine the fundamental principles of international justice,” has declared Jiang Bin, spokesperson for the Ministry in charge of National Defence. According to the declarations by the Japanese Minister in charge of Defence, in addition to the issue of nuclear policy, there is also the matter of revising the three non-nuclear principles to which Japan has adhered since the end of the Second World War. “Japan is internationally recognised as a nuclear-threshold State, having stockpiled approximately 44.4 tonnes of separated plutonium and having long retained the capacity to acquire nuclear weapons rapidly,” Mr Jiang has emphasised. According to him, the Japan’s attempt to violate the three non-nuclear principles constituted a serious violation of its obligations under international law, as set out in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. The spokesperson for the Ministry in charge of National Defence has, further, called on the international community and the Japanese people to remain extremely vigilant and to resolutely curb such a trend.
