Kisangani, February 9th, 2026 (CPA).- The difficulties faced by the inhabitants of the Basoko territory in the province of Tshopo, in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, have been raised by a provincial deputy during an interview on Monday with CPA.
‘While on parliamentary vacation in my electoral district of Basoko, from where we have just returned, we have unfortunately noticed problems with road infrastructure, buildings, health, insecurity, harassment and many others,’ has declared Emmanuel Makoka, provincial deputy elected from the electoral district of Basoko territory. He has also noticed that since the beginning of this legislative session, the provincial government has done nothing to raise its profile in his electoral stronghold.
For this reason, he has called on the provincial government to take a look at the budget edict in order to achieve something in Basoko. Regarding the eighty-five (85) provincial financial management agents who remain unpaid, even though they generate revenue for the province, the Basoko representative has said that he has already undertaken measures at several levels to resolve this issue. « We have spoken with these agents, who have confirmed that they are not being paid. We, in turn, have met with the provincial minister in charge of finance, the general director of the provincial financial authority and the provincial governor in order to find solutions to this problem, » has indicated the elected representative.
While waiting for the provincial government to find satisfactory solutions to the various problems affecting the population of the Basoko territory, Provincial Deputy Makoka has taken charge of the construction of a secondary school and the purchase of two mortuaries at a total cost of fifty-four thousand (54,000) US dollars. These mortuaries are now just waiting their installation.
