Kisangani, September 28th, 2025 (CPA).- ‘Tshopo can and must once again become an agricultural powerhouse in the Democratic Republic of Congo,’ has indicated the Provincial Minister in charge of Agriculture during a visit on Sunday to the provincial oil palm nursery located on the Ituri road in the north-east of the country. « Tshopo can and must once again become an agricultural powerhouse in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Tshopo’s soil is rich, our history is great, and our future depends on our ability to believe in ourselves, » has declared Bijoux Nkoy Ntaka, provincial Minister in charge of Agriculture for Tshopo. Provincial Minister Nkoy has welcomed the encouraging progress of this strategic project, which is considered a major pillar of the current agricultural programme. Commenting on the historical importance of this culture for the province, she has remembered that in the 1980s, Tshopo supplied oil palm seeds to Malaysia. Today, she has noted, Malaysia is the world’s leading producer of palm oil. ‘If we were able to feed the world yesterday, we can become a world agricultural hub again tomorrow,’ she has explained, calling for a collective effort before urging the population to embrace the governor’s political vision focused on a return to the land.
