World Music and Tourism Festival: two sites selected to host the event in Kinshasa

Kinshasa, September 27th, 2026 (CPA).- The Central African Cultural Centre and the esplanade of the Exchangeur, located in the municipalities of Kasa-Vubu and Limete, respectively, in central and northwestern Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), have been selected to host the World Music and Tourism Festival, following a visit by the Minister of Tourism to the sites on Saturday. “In total, two sites have been selected to host the World Music and Tourism Festival, namely the Cultural Centre and the Exchangeur in Limete. We visited these places, buildings, performance halls, cultural spaces as well as the tourist village, where the mausoleum of Patrice Emery Lumumba is located. These sites will welcome not only guests coming from abroad, but above all Congolese men and women,” said Didier Mazenga, Minister in charge of Tourism.

According to Minister Mazenga, the objective of this second edition is to showcase the DRC’s tourism and cultural potential, particularly its music, promote the country and present to the world the best of what the Congolese people possess, including rumba. “It is on the 8th that we will launch these activities. It is here that we will meet so that the DRC can present a positive image to the world,” he said during the visit. Furthermore, the Minister of Tourism condemned the Rwandan aggression against the DRC, noting that peace and security are essential not only for protecting the population, but also for developing tourism and promoting the country’s natural and cultural wealth.

“I pay tribute to the Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, for the efforts he continues to make in favour of peace. Our country has immense tourism potential that we must preserve and promote. A peaceful DRC is a DRC that can welcome more visitors, create jobs and show the world the exceptional beauty of our heritage,” Didier Mazenga concluded. The second edition of the World Music and Tourism Festival was launched on September 1 under the theme: “Tourism, a showcase for cultural diversity and a lever for promoting the destination ‘DRC, Heart of Africa’.”
